blog numero tres

My first interactive activity was called Seeing More Than Your Eye Does. I thought it was REALLY COOL how your eye has a blind spot, and I actually kept doing the first page for a while. It told of how there are no photoreceptors in one spot, where the optic nerve head is in your eye, therefore you have a blind spot. It also said that when your seeing normally, what you see is something the brain is making up. But, the brain would match colors and lines and whatever was around the blind spot. It was way cool!! I leared that the brain is smart enought to realize the things it sees and match it up with what you dont. I never thought that your eye would have a blind spot before, that was something new to me. What i learned will probably help me realize that some one what i see isnt really there, its just something that my mind made up. This changes what i think we percieve and process a lot!!
My second interactive activity was called Contrast/Color "Illusions". I thought it was pretty sweet that what you see from your blind spot is an informed guess, and that your informed guesses are based on "the intensities and wavelengths of light coming from other locations in the scene blindspot". It was a little like the first one, but it made me see that colors that i thought were different were actually the same. This also changes what i think we percieve and process a lot, because i never would've thought that i wasnt seeing everything correctly.
I also learned that the brain sends and recieves information through neurons and that some neurotransmitters may have a particular effect on our behavior and emotions. What I've learned has made me believe that there is way more to the brain than I thought before I took this class.
I couldn't get the video to work though, my family's laptop wouldn't let it.
