Research is VERY important. If we didn't have research, we would just be going off of what everybody says, and that would vary from person to person. To get accurate answers we would need to check with other people and compare results.
When i went to Psyblog, i found an article with the heading of How Long to Form a Habit?. It told me that how long to form a habit depended on the kind of habit you were trying to acquire and how dedicated you are to forming it. Researchers did a test on forming a habit of drinking a glass of water a day and doing 50 sit-ups before eating breakfast. For some people it took 18 days to form the habit, for others 254. This is relevant because most of us have habits, and some people may want to change them. For example, biting your nails, cracking your fingers, always eating breakfast, not drinking soda, etc.
Three things that I've learned this week:
1. Coming up with and testing a hypothesis is a part of psychology. This is important so we can test and record what happens in an experiment.
2. Psychology has many sub-divisions with different ways to analyse information. This is important because we get to see many different ways to look at things.
3. Psychology is essential to learn more about ourselves. This is important because psychology is pretty much the study about humans and how we act.
